President's Message

The Rotary Club of Kenosha West was founded on December 30th, 1971. By clicking on the Club History button on our home page you will find out more about what we have accomplished in our 35 year history. Our club has over 70 members and is still growing. By clicking on the Membership List button you will be able to see individual pictures of the members in our club. As you can see, we are big on softball.

Every summer since our founding, we have organized a softball tournament as a way to raise money to donate to worthy organizations within the Kenosha community. Over the past 34 years, our club has contributed close to $550,000 to hundreds of local organizations that make this community great. This year alone we have we donated over $45,000 from the proceeds of last year’s tournament. In 2006 we had another very successful tournament ever and raised even more money that will be donated back to organizations in Kenosha County in 2007. That would not be possible without the support of our sponsors, players, and softball fans. Next summer’s tournament will be held again in July.

You might ask, “Why would I consider joining Rotary?” The “official” answer would be, Rotary is an international organization of professional men and women joined together for the purpose of fellowship and service. Unofficially, Rotary is an organization that offers a way to make new friends, increases your awareness of the international community, and provides service to those in need. Rotary’s motto is “Service above Self” and we do that through four avenues of service: International, Club, Vocational, and Community. In 1985 Rotary International launched an immunization program called Polio Plus with the goal to eradicate polio world-wide which has almost been accomplished. In addition, our club sponsors and our members host an international exchange student to come and live in Kenosha for a year. Club service is building fellowship among our members which we do with many social events throughout the year where members and their families get together to have fun and enjoy each other’s company. For vocational service we sponsor a job shadow program and occasionally hold our meetings at various local employers’ places of business. If you are interested in visiting our club we meet every Thursday at noon at the Fireside Restaurant, 2801 30th Ave., Kenosha, Wisconsin. If you have any questions or would like more information about our club you can contact me at 262-577-2403. Thank you for visiting our website.
